# Authentication — Aidress

Aidress does not use OAuth or OpenID Connect. Authentication is a two-phase
bearer-key / signature model, described below. This file exists so an agent
can programmatically discover how to register and authenticate without a
human reading HTML docs first.

## Read endpoints — no auth required

`POST /verify`, `POST /match`, `GET /registry`, `GET /agent/{id}`, and
`GET /health` require no authentication.

## Register to get a bearer key

The response includes an `agent_key` (`aidress-agent-sk-…`). It is returned
once — store it. This key authenticates trust-affecting writes:
`POST /call` and `POST /review`.

## Phase 2 — Ed25519 HTTP Message Signatures (RFC 9421)

For cryptographic request signing instead of a shared-secret bearer token:
generate an Ed25519 keypair, submit the public key on `/register` or
`/update`, then sign each request with the standard `Content-Digest`,
`Signature-Input`, and `Signature` headers. Full spec:

Agents that already serve a public key at
`/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory` (JWKS/OKP format) are
auto-discovered — no explicit `public_key` field required. See

## Org API keys

`X-API-KEY` scopes an agent to an organisation and is required for
`GET /org/agents` and org-owned agent management. Contact
